How can the main control board of the charging station prevent overcharging?

The main control board of the charging station prevents overcharging through various mechanisms to ensure the safety of the charging process and the health status of the battery. The following are its main measures:

1. Collaborate with vehicle BMS

  • The charging station control board communicates in real-time with the vehicle's battery management system (BMS) to obtain key information such as battery voltage, current, temperature, and charge level. When the BMS detects that the battery level is full or close to full, it will send a command to the main control board to stop charging, and the main control board will immediately cut off the charging circuit.

2. Dynamic charging parameter adjustment

  • The main control board dynamically adjusts the charging parameters based on the real-time status of the battery. For example, when the battery level approaches full charge, the main control board will switch from constant current charging mode to constant voltage charging mode and gradually reduce the charging current to avoid overcharging.

3. Overcharge protection function

  • The main control board is equipped with an overcharge protection mechanism, which can monitor the charging status of the battery in real time. Once the battery is fully charged or the voltage reaches the set upper limit, the main control board will automatically stop charging to prevent the battery from overheating or expanding due to overcharging.

4. Intelligent charging algorithm

  • The main control board adopts intelligent charging algorithm to optimize the charging process based on the health status and charging demand of the battery. This algorithm can effectively avoid the risk of overcharging caused by battery aging or environmental temperature changes.

5. Fault self inspection and warning

  • The main control board has a comprehensive fault self checking mechanism, which can detect abnormal situations during the charging process in real time, such as abnormal voltage, abnormal current, or high temperature. Once a potential overcharge risk is detected, the main control board will immediately issue an alarm and cut off the charging circuit.

6. User interface and manual intervention

  • The main control board supports users to manually stop charging through the operation interface of the charging station or mobile APP, providing additional security protection for users.

Through the above measures, the charging station control board can effectively prevent overcharging, protect battery health, and ensure the safety and reliability of the charging process.
